RAF Senior/Master Cadet: Military Aircraft Systems Practice Exam

The CRV-7 is classified as an unguided rocket. It is a widely used air-to-ground weapon system that relies on ballistic flight rather than guidance systems to reach its target. The CRV-7 was designed primarily for use on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, providing a versatile option for engaging targets with a range of warhead types, including high-explosive and penetrating options.

Unguided rockets like the CRV-7 are typically fired in salvos and rely on the pilot's aiming and launch techniques to achieve the desired effect on target. While they can be quite effective in certain scenarios, their lack of precision when compared to guided munitions means they have a higher potential for collateral damage.

In contrast, laser-guided bombs, smart bombs, and precision-guided munitions all involve some form of guidance system that significantly enhances their accuracy relative to unguided weapons. Understanding these distinctions is key in military operations, especially in terms of targeting and minimizing unintended impacts during engagements.
